Volunteers

In 1983, when the Fort Worth ISD established the Language Center program for middle and high school immigrant students, the planners agreed to set up a district-wide program. In ten years, this program became the International Newcomer Academy, a school dedicated to the children of immigrants and refugees, teaching them the English language, and the skills they need to succeed in a Fort Worth ISD school.

Ways You Can Help

  • Peer Tutors: INA students are challenged by the difficulty of getting academic assistance.

  • After School Study Hall: Spend time with INA students after school before they can get a ride home.

  • Soccer and Baseball: These sports are "languages" spoken across the globe.

  • Visual and Performance Artist: Help enrich INA with extracurricular involvements like art!

  • Living in Fort Worth: Or simply telling your story to the students, teaching them how to live in the United States.
